A VAST majority of the public has no knowledge or idea on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) sustained for 2015. Around nine-tenth of people asked in a street talk survey by Island Sun yesterday said they were not acquainted with MDGs.

This survey was conducted to find the knowledge of the public about the Millennium Declaration the country ratified along with 189 countries around the world in 2000, to attain the eight developing factors by 2015.

This came after the UN Millennium Campaign (UNMC) and UNDP’s efforts to increase the achievements prior to the up-coming General Elections.

The organizations hope the next Government to address these goals to reality for a better living standard for Solomon Islands.

Hence, it is vitally important for the public to know about the MDG’s status, for it plays a crucial role in developing the country. With individuals’ knowledge of the MDGs, one can define a strong national leadership that prioritizes these goals.
