BUALA POLICE held a significant Anti-Alcohol rally at Jejevo School involving up to a thousand members of the community who heard speeches from the Provincial Police Commander Isabel, Superintendent Gabriel Manelusi, Visena Community High School Principal, William Leguvaka and Isabel Premier, Ruben Dotho.
The anti-alcohol rally has been staged to target the increase in the alcohol related problems that have crippled communities, homes and individual lives around Isabel provincial people.
The rally which was staged last Friday (28 May) attracted many of the local people who came and listened to speeches on the dangers of alcohol consumption and witnessed colourful women, school students and Police officers marching along the Jejevo school sea view playing ground.
Buala Provincial Police Commander Superintendent, Gabriel Manelusi expressed his gratitude and thanked all participants for this well organized and timely program for the people of Isabel.
“I believed this public rally is an important step forward in stopping the rising alcohol problems our community is facing here in Buala and the province as a whole,” Mr Manelusi said.
The Isabel Premier spoke in support of the efforts of the Police and the community to work together to tackle the problem of alcohol and related anti-social behaviours in the community.
Over the weekend, Buala Police have reported that there has been a significant change in the local people’s attitude in relation to consumption of alcohol in a public place.
“We hope to see the cooperation between the community and the Police regarding taking a stance against alcohol abuse continue,” said Mr Manelusi.
“This partnership will create a peaceful place to live in Buala.”
