TAIWAN’S AMBASSADOR to Solomon Islands His Excellency George Chan said there was no evidence to prove funds donated by his country are misused. He made this comment on the occasion of receiving a message booklet for Taiwan’s President Ma Ying-jeou from the Speaker of National Parliament Sir Peter Kenilorea yesterday.
Taiwan is one of the main donors for Solomon Islands, which include the controversial Rural Constituency Development Fund (RCDF).
He said there are criticisms encountered everyday including negative impacts of funds provided for by the Taiwanese government and its people.
“With such criticisms, I will not listen to any one but only to the relevant heads to verify to me the truth in any way possible.
“Seeing first hand for myself the use of the funds in various constituencies; there is no evidence shown that funds are misused.
“However for those that did not comply with the requirements of the funds, voters themselves should take notice of them and vote them out,” Ambassador Chan said.
Ambassador Chan said despite such criticisms the cordial relationship that exist between our countries will forever remembered and treasured always.
